Xylos Learning and UQ join forces to strengthen digital skills

Antwerp, May 23, 2024 – Xylos and UQ support the Flemish government in developing and maintaining the digital skills of its employees. They do this with DigiWijzer and an engaging internal campaign.

DigiWijzer is a unique and integrated approach to intuitively mapping employee skills. This is immediately followed by a personalized adaptive range of micro- and social learning courses and additional guidance from coaches.

The project is part of a Flemish government action plan that helps guarantee the digital agility of every employee. “We strive to get as many staff members on board as possible,” says Ellen Wijnen, Learning and Development Project Manager at the Flemish government. “The impact of digitalization on daily work and life is immense; we encourage all Flemish agencies and departments to deploy DigiWijzer so that their employees stay digitally up to date.”

Within the project, UQ is responsible for the orientation tool and the adaptive learning where everything comes together. Xylos, in turn, handles the digital coaching aspect. With nearly one in two Belgians, across all generations, being vulnerable due to a lack of digital skills (Digital Inclusion Barometer), the Flemish government is sending a clear signal. This is one of the most important priorities of our society on the way to an inclusive and positive digital future.

“We not only want to increase awareness among Flemish government employees about how digitally skilled they are today, but above all, take them along in an intuitive and connecting development journey that is personalized and recognizable,” says Thierry Lescrauwaet, Founder of UQ. “People should have the desire to grow of their own accord and not see it as a task.”

The European Union’s Digcomp framework, featuring 21 key digital competencies, was used as the basis for DigiWijzer. Through this offering, Flemish government employees can map out how digitally skilled they are and where they can still strengthen their abilities.

In addition to assessing knowledge, we also focus on optimizing and maintaining it. The various agencies and departments can opt for active coaching, where employees are supported during their digital journey. Depending on their skill level, they receive tailored e-learnings and guidance sessions.

“The Flemish government recognizes the importance of sound digital knowledge,” explains Patrick Leysen, CEO of Xylos. “The world is changing so fast that it is important to keep a finger on the pulse. Thanks to the tool with active coaching, all employees can maintain and even further sharpen their competencies.”

Broader collaboration between Xylos Learning & UQ Xylos Learning works closely with UQ, an innovative and committed Belgian Edtech player with its own ‘Learn different’ approach, to successfully realize this project. Both companies have therefore entered into a partnership.

Within the collaboration, UQ is responsible for the DigiWijzer app with DigiStart, which intuitively maps digital skills. Based on that scan, UQ develops an adaptive social and micro-learning path where everything comes together. Subsequently, Xylos supports employees with Digital Coaches.

By joining forces in a single offering, we also provide an answer to digital inclusion, paying attention to overcoming initial hurdles and removing the fear of the unknown. In this process, the coaches form an important bridge to the embrace of technology.
